Red Not the type of Dungeon Synth that I tend to lean towards but in this case it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Compared to others in the niche this has a more smoothed out synth instrumentation yet still retains that familiar fantasy charm we all know and love. Simply put I like it. 😂 Favorite track: Traverse thick fog of the golden prairie.

Sleeping Villager The music is simply top-notch: everything I crave in a synth-laden experience is inordinately well represented. If you're questing for a soundtrack to adventure, Desolation Plains delivers in spades.

Like unto any great form of escapism, this is an adventure that wholly succeeds at creating a little patch of adventure outside the bounds of hum-drum existence. Plus, the protagonist wields a zweihänder, and if that little nugget doesn't wet yer whistle, I dunno how to help. Favorite track: Over red river, under wood sanctuary.

Kaptain Carbon Inspired by the masters of dark dungeon synth, such as Old Sorcery and Murgrind, Desolation Plains is stylistically similar but never as bleak, since their music has an inherent sense of fascination and optimism. Sword of Hailstone offers the listener a multimedia experience that goes far beyond standard music and brings the participant into a world of role playing, danger, and wandering skeletons. Favorite track: Over red river, under wood sanctuary.

Guillaume P. Trépanier This album literally comes with an adventure to jump in. It is a unique and extraordinary experience. The game, the figurine and everything that accompanies the cassette are not used to camouflage weaker music, it’s only there to enhance the pleasure. Listening in depth, with headphones, reveals brilliantly crafted music. Melody, tones, effects, mix… Everything has been done with care, sensitivity and with a strong attention to details. dwrek Makes me feel like Im 11 again, in front of my friend's Tandy, taking turns playing some rando d&d game while also perusing an old Fiend Folio we got at a used book store. This whole album hits that spot. Favorite track: Over red river, under wood sanctuary.

Leaning into the gentler synthwave end of the spectrum, with a basis in sparse yet vibrant soundscapes, Desolation Plains is inspired aesthetically by acts such as Old Sorcery, Murgrind, and Desiderii Marginis. Gnoll est un génie — au sens artistique du terme, cela va sans dire, mais aussi au sens littéral : quand Heimat Der Katastrophe fait le souhait d'obtenir un album, il s'exécute, d'où le temps de conception très court pour Mörk Borg. Cela n'entache en rien la qualité de l'album. Il porte encore son regard sur les humanoïdes sauf qu'ici ils sont morts-vivants.
