    S'han catalogat i cartograliat les principals comunitats bentoniques litorals (entre O i 50 m de prolunditat) deis lons marins adjacents a I'illa del Toro i a I'illa d'Es Malgrat (SW de Mallorca, Mediterrani occidental). Els fans marins estudiats són una mostra representativa de les principals comunitats bentoniques de mar oberta del Mediterrani occidental i es troben en un bon estat de conservació. La informació aquí exposada adquireix particular interés des del moment en que existeix la intenció de declarar aquests paratges reserves marines.

    A Checklist and a cartography of the main benthic littoral communities (between O and 50 m depth) of the El Toro and Es Malgrat islands (SW Mallorca, Western Mediterranean) are presented. The studied marine bottoms are a representative sample of the benthic communities of the Western Mediterranean in exposed shores, and They show good conservation conditions. This information is particularly interesting as these areas may be proposed lo be future marine reserves.
