  • Resumen
    • For some time now, a millenary ritual act in religions as widespread as Judaism and Islam: the circumcision of infants has been questioned. Today's greater sensibility to the human rights of minors and respect for the autonomy of will have opened a debate that is as interesting as it is controversial. This study analyses the circumcision of minors from two points of view: from the perspective of the limits of parental authority to act for the benefit of children and to respect their personality rights; and from the perspective of possible criminal liability, considering circumcision as a crime of genital mutilation or common injury. The study of Spanish legislation and jurisprudence is the starting point for the proposals, de iure condendo, on possible modifications of the legal system in order to intensify the protection of minors in Spain.
