    El presente trabajo explora el papel que tuvo Isabel la Católica en la creación de los ajuares de sus cuatro hijas y cómo gestionó los recursos económicos de la familia real para tal fin. La reina entendió desde el principio que las joyas no solo eran símbolos de riqueza, sino también instrumentos de poder, legitimidad y continuidad dinástica. A través de una cuidadosa planificación se aseguró de que sus hijas estuviesen adecuadamente equipadas para sus matrimonios con ajuares que reflejaban tanto su estatus como su identidad familiar. Demostró en tiempos de perentoria necesidad su capacidad para adaptar y reutilizar recursos, manteniendo la estabilidad financiera del reino sin sacrificar la magnificencia de los ajuares. Las joyas heredadas y de nueva creación no solo conectaron emocionalmente a la reina con sus hijas, sino que también sirvieron como un recuerdo tangible del poder y el legado de los Trastámara. En síntesis, el artículo pretende adentrarse en el rol que desempeñó Isabel la Católica como gestora de sus bienes y como principal responsable de la confección del ajuar de las infantas.

    This paper explores the role of Isabella I of Castile in the creation of the trousseaus for her four daughters and how she managed the royal family’s economic resources for this purpose. The queen understood from the outset that jewellery was not only a symbol of wealth but also an instrument of power, legitimacy, and dynastic continuity. Through careful planning, she ensured that her daughters were adequately equipped for their marriages with trousseaus that reflected both their status and family identity. In times of pressing need, Isabella I of Castile demonstrated her ability to adapt and repurpose resources, maintaining the financial stability of the kingdom without sacrificing the splendour of the trousseaus. The inherited and newly crafted jewellery not only forged an emotional connection between the queen and her daughters but also served as a tangible reminder of the power and legacy of the Trastámara dynasty. In summary, the article delves into Isabella I of Castile’ role as a manager of her assets and as the principal figure responsible for the creation of the infantas’ trousseaus.
