  El Grupo de Investigación de Estudios Interdisciplinares de Literatura y Arte “LyA” (UCLM) trabaja desde 2016 en el diseño e implementación de un catálogo digital, www.poeonline.es, que dé acceso libre y gratuito a las ilustraciones que, a lo largo de poco más de siglo y medio, se han venido realizando sobre la obra literaria de Edgar A. Poe. La base de datos se plantea con un doble sentido direccional que permita al usuario tanto pasar del texto a la imagen como de esta a aquel. Edgar A. Poe es un autor que ha suscitado una inusitada respuesta por parte de los ilustradores, que han encontrado en la obra del bostoniano una fuente inagotable de inspiración. Este hecho se debe al protagonismo que la visualidad tiene en la literatura de Poe, lo que le hace especialmente atractivo para los estudios interdisciplinares de arte y literatura, pero también a la riqueza estética de sus textos, que abarcan mucho más que lo grotesco y lo arabesco.

  The Research Group for Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature and Art “LyA” (UCLM) has been working since 2016 on the design and implementation of a digital catalogue, www.poeonline.es, which gives free access to the illustrations that, throughout little more than a century and a half, have been carried out on the literary work of Edgar A. Poe. The database is presented with a double directional sense that allows the user to go from text to image and vice versa. Edgar A. Poe is an author who has inspired an unusual response from illustrators, who have found an inexhaustible source of inspiration in the Bostonian’s work. This fact is due to the prominence that visuality has in Poe’s literature, which makes it especially attractive for interdisciplinary studies of art and literature, but also for the aesthetic richness of his texts, which cover much more than the grotesque and the arabesque.
