    Within the scope of a doctoral research in Social Work, the potential that the action-research methodology can have in and for the transformation of participants in a project for collecting and sharing life stories in Folgosa do Douro, district of Viseu, is explored.The socio-critical scientific paradigm, on which this research that we carry out for the development of communities at the local level rests, has shown a great capacity in transforming the people involved in this work. Action-research, which methodologically guides this study, manifests itself in the capacity that subjects have in participating in projects oriented towards change, in the ability to adapt to new contexts, problems and needs, in the flexibility that it imposes on their cycles of investigation and action, in the intervention where one educates and in the education where one intervenes. Under the same methodological spirit used in broader research, this study analyses, using the biographical method, what potential the methodology used may have for the participants and how it could enhance their awareness in solving their problems.

    No âmbito de uma investigação doutoral em Serviço Social, explora-se as potencialidades que a metodologia de investigação-ação pode ter na e para a transformação dos sujeitos participantes num projeto de recolha e partilha de histórias de vida em Folgosa do Douro, distrito de Viseu.O paradigma científico sócio-crítico, sobre o qual recai esta investigação que realizamos para o desenvolvimento das comunidades ao nível local, tem mostrado uma grande capacidade na transformação dos sujeitos envolvidos neste trabalho. A Investigação-ação, que orienta metodologicamente este estudo, manifesta-se na capacidade que os sujeitos têm em participar em projetos orientados para a mudança, na habilidade em adaptar-se a novos contextos, problemas e necessidades, na flexibilidade que impõe aos seus ciclos de investigação e de ação, na intervenção onde se educa e na educação onde se intervém. Sob o mesmo espírito metodológico usado na investigação mais ampla, este estudo analisa, recorrendo ao método biográfico, quais as potencialidades que a metodologia usada pode ter para os sujeitos e de que forma pode potenciar a sua consciência na resolução dos seus problemas.
