    Reportamos el primer registro del búho cara oscura (Asio stygius) para el estado de Querétaro. El registro corresponde a un individuo que fue herido y decomisado en el municipio de Landa de Matamoros, en el interior de la Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra Gorda. Esta observación refuerza la hipótesis de una distribución extendida de A. stygius a través de la parte septentrional de la Sierra Madre Oriental.

    We report the first record of the Stygian Owl (Asio stygius) for the state of Queretaro. The observation corresponds to an individual that was shot and seized in the Landa de Matamoros municipality, in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve. This record reinforces the hypothesis of an extended distribution of A. stygius throughout the northern part of the Sierra Madre Oriental.
