Aquest treball analitza detalladament quines són les diferències essencials entre la normativa ortogràfica i gramatical de l'Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua (AVL) i la de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC). A més, posa de manifest que l'existència de més d'un centre codificador sense una cooperació mútua ha provocat desavinences, tensions i dubtes en l'aplicació de la norma de referència al País Valencià. Així mateix, ha derivat en un pluricentrisme intern. De fet, hi conviuen variacions pel que fa al model lingüístic de referència, segonssi es prefereix una major convergència amb la resta del català (amb el referent institucional bàsic de les universitats), o si s'opta per unaidentificació més clara amb la varietat valenciana (amb el referent bàsic de l' AVL).

This paper studies in detail tbe essential differences between the orthographic and grammatical norm of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua (AVL) and that ofthe Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC). It shows tbat the existence of severa} prescriptive centres which do not cooperate bave provokeddisagreements, tensions and doubts when people want to put into practice the linguistic norm in the Valencian Community. Furtherrnore, this situation has created an internat pluricentricity as well. In fact, one can choose between two basic linguistic models: one which prefers a bigger convergence with the rest of the Catalan lands, and another which looks for a clearer identification with thelinguistic variety òf Valencian. The first one has university as a reference point; the second has the AVL as an authority.
