Partiendo de Tomás de Aquino, se repasan algunas contribuciones del cristianismo a la economía moderna. Se muestra que el cristianismo valoró positivamente el trabajo productivo; facilitó la inversión; admitió el préstamo a interés y permitió constatar que el mercado resulta el mecanismo más adecuado para satisfacer las necesidades humanas.

Drawing on a text by Thomas Aquinas, this article reviews several contributions of Christianity to the modern economic. It shows that Christianity placed a positive value on productive work; thereby facilitating investment; accepted lending at interest; and recognized the market as the most suitable mechanism for meeting human needs.
