Casamicciola, a spa and tourist centre, was almost destroyed by the earthquake of 1883. Architectures and entire urban contexts were lost, because reconstruction followed development guidelines that penalised Casamicciola. It is therefore interesting to describe the centre by comparing two cadastres (1875/80-1884) with the current cartography, also due to the persistent occurrence of catastrophic events - earthquakes and landslides - some of which can be partly governed.
