    Este trabajo saca a la luz un valioso documento de la Puebla del siglo XVII: la autobiografía de José del Castillo Grajeda. Fue redactado originalmente por mandato a modo de penitencia en catorce cuadernos y estuvo oculto por casi dos siglos. Esta autobiografía muestra el proceso de madurez de su autor y nos aproxima a uno de los personajes más fascinantes de la Puebla de aquel tiempo: Catarina de San Juan, la China poblana, pues Castillo fue uno de sus tres biógrafos. A través del texto es posible desentrañar la relación que sostuvieron la China y el bachiller Castillo y la gran influencia que ella tuvo sobre él durante los once años en que coincidieron sus vidas.

    This work brings to light a valuable document of XVIIth century Puebla: the autobiography of José del Castillo Grajeda. It was originally written as a penance mandate in fourteen notebooks and was in hiding for almost two centuries. It shows the process of maturity of his author and bring us closer to one of the most fascinating characters of the Puebla of that time: Catarina de San Juan, the Pueblan Chinese, because Castillo was one of her three biographers. Trough the text is possible to disembowel the relation held between the Chinese and the bachelor Castillo such as the great influence exercised by her over him during the eleven years they were closely connected.
