Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro y Alfonso Daniel Rodríguez Castelao son los padres y las cumbres del humor gráfico galaicoportugués por la importancia y la influencia de su obra, no superadas por antecesores ni sucesores. Aunque vivieron en épocas diferentes, mediando cuarenta años entre el nacimiento de uno y otro, observamos en sus vidas y obras algunos paralelismos interesantes. Los dos comparten una parecida actitud humorística, basada más en la ironía que en la sátira, y una semejante genialidad que les permite, partiendo de los estilos imperantes en su época el naturalismo (Bordallo) y el modernismo (Castelao), realizar una obra personal que creará sendas escuelas que han llegado prácticamente hasta nuestros días.

Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro and Alfonso Daniel Rodríguez Castelao are the parents and the tops of the GalicianPortuguese cartoon by the importance and the influence of their work, never bettered by predecessors or successors. Although they lived in different times, upon forty years between the birth of one and another, we observe in their lives and works some interesting parallels. Both share a similar humorous attitude, based more on irony than in satire, and a stroke of genius enabling them, on the basis of the prevailing styles in their times naturalism (Bordallo) and modernism (Castelao)perform a personal work that will create two schools which have almost reached our days.
