    El objeto de esta comunicación es presentar el proyecto de tesis en el que estoy trabajando y que lleva por título La idea de España entre 1898 y 1975. Tras enunciar una serie de preguntas, empezaré justificando la elección del tema: el problema de España. Continuaré con algunas notas metodológicas, propias de la ciencia histórica y otras notas gnoseológicas y explicitaré en qué fase de la investigación me encuentro y con qué objetivo. Estoy manejando diversos autores y lecturas con el propósito de contestar a la pregunta que ya se formulara Ortega: ¡Dios mío, qué es España! Mostraré que no puedo contestar a esta pregunta si no tengo en cuenta a América. Una vez definida España, estaré en condiciones de analizar las dos ideas de España que surgen después de la coyuntura del 1898, la federal y la unitaria.

    The purpose of this communication is to present the thesis project in which I am currently working and which is entitled The idea of Spain between 1898 and 1975. After stating a series of questions, I will begin by justifying the choice of theme: the problem of Spain. I will continue with some methodological notes, typical of Historical Science and other gnoseological notes and I will explain at what stage of the research I am and with what objective. I am handling various authors and readings with the purpose of answering the question that Ortega has already formulated: My God, what is Spain! I will show that I can not answer this question if I do not consider America. Once Spain is defined, I will be in a position to analyze the two ideas of Spain that arise after the conjuncture of 1898, the federal and the unitary.
