Convento de Monchique no Porto: hipótese de reconstituição digital

    This article will be focused on Manueline interventions in the Monastery of Madre de Deus de Monchique. This set, an example of how the convent fences shaped and built a city, allows us to glimpse one of the rare documented Manueline conceptions currently existing in Porto. We mustn�t forget that, after the extinction of religious orders, the complex was reused for various purposes, including trade and warehouses. Taking into account the profound changes that have taken place over the years and the current state of ruin of part of the buildings, we consider it is imperative to promote the knowledge of this important patrimonial set. We believe that a study of this nature can contribute to a broader multidisciplinary reflection of the historical importance of the Monchique site in the construction of the identity of the city, reviving its memories. As a way of approaching the object of study, we used the crypto-history of art - as understood by Vítor Serrão - and the possibilities of analyzing works of art that do not exist in the reconstitution of artistic paths. The design of digital reconstitution and its gains are essential for this analysis. Benefiting from its vast potential - still practically unexplored in the present case study - and in a framework established by the international charts that inform this matter, we�ll draw up a proposal for the digital reconstitution of the conventual complex of Monchique, as presented in the initial plan outlined by Diogo de Castilho. The recommendations of the charters and the international principles of digital heritage, as well as the different theories and practices of restoration, will be taken into account.

    O presente artigo focar-se-á nas intervenções manuelinas no convento da Madre de Deus de Monchique.

    Este conjunto, exemplo de como as cercas conventuais moldaram e construíram cidade, permite-nos vislumbrar uma das raras conceções manuelinas documentadas, atualmente existentes no Porto. Recorde-se que, após a extinção das ordens religiosas, o complexo foi reutilizado para diversos fins, incluindo comércio e armazéns. Tendo em conta as profundas alterações sofridas ao longo dos tempos e o estado atual de ruína de parte do conjunto edificado, consideramos premente promover o conhecimento deste relevante conjunto patrimonial. Acreditamos que um estudo desta natureza possa contribuir para uma reflexão multidisciplinar mais alargada da importância histórica do sítio de Monchique na construção identitária da cidade, reavivando as suas memórias. Como modo de aproximação ao objeto de estudo, recorremos à cripto-história da arte � tal como a entendeu Vítor Serrão � e às possibilidades de análise de obras de arte inexistentes na reconstituição de percursos artísticos. O desenho de reconstituição digital e as suas mais-valias são essenciais para esta análise. Usufruindo do seu vasto potencial � ainda praticamente inexplorado no presente objeto de estudo �, e num enquadramento balizado pelas cartas internacionais que informam esta matéria, procederemos à elaboração de uma proposta de reconstituição digital do complexo conventual de Monchique, tal como se apresentava no plano inicialmente delineado por Diogo de Castilho. Serão tidas em conta as recomendações das cartas e dos princípios internacionais do digital heritage, bem como as diferentes teorias e práticas do restauro.
