    Dues espècies de dragons i una de sargantana són els únics components de l'herpetofauna terrestre de l'Arxipèlag de Cabrera. Només la sargantana Podareis lilfordi és un supervivent de les faunes de vertebrats autòctones de les Illes Balears. Es presenta l'estatus taxonòmic de les diferents poblacions de sargantanes, la distribució de les tres espècies i diferents dades sobre la seva biologia (alimentació, reproducció, avaluació poblacional). S'assenyalen algunes línies generals d'estudi per al futur.

    Two species of geckos and one lizard are the only components of the terrestrial herpetofauna of the archipelago of Cabrera. The only survivor of the autochthonous vertebrate fauna of the Balearic islands is the lizard Podareis lilfordi. The distribution of the three species, the taxonomic status of the different populations of Podareis lil{ordi, and some ecological aspects (food, reproduction, estimation of effectives) are discussed in this chapter. Also the general outlines of future research are indicated.
