High volumes of diabase dykes outcrop in the Eastern part of the South Portuguese Zone, which crosscutting the subvolcanic and plutonic rocks of the Seville Range batholith (SRB), and they are covered by permian deposits of the Viar Basin. Geochemically, the diabases were originated in a tectonic setting similar to basic rocks of the SRB, therefore both have been derived from the same matelic source in a tectonic setting of active margino.
