  Quizá, el marco general del regeneracionismo no es algo nuevo ni original en Joaquín Costa Martínez. Pero su obra, al coincidir con el Desastre del 98 se con-virtió en el trampolín entre dos siglos. Así, esta corriente criticista, es herencia del legado intelectual español, colofón a un siglo y anuncio de lo que sería en el siguiente. El regeneracionismo quiere ser también una llamada de atención a captar el europeísmo y la modernidad. Es el epicentro de enfrentamientos que se alimentaría de distintas filosofías desde el krausismo al vitalismo dentro de una visión historicista.

  Perhaps, the general framework of regenerationism is not new or original in Joaquín Costa Martínez. However, his work, overlapping with the ’98 Disaster in the Spanish-American War, became the springboard between two centuries. Thus, this criticistic current is inherited from the Spanish intellectual legacy, the culmination of a century and the announcement of what would be the next. Regenerationism also wants to be a wake-up call to capture Europeanism and modernity. It is the epicenter of confrontations, which would feed on different philosophies from Krausism to vitalism within a historicist vision.
