  El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la construcción de la sala 20 y conocer las características sociodemográficas de las mujeres ingresadas en el Manicomio Provincial de Málaga entre 1909 y 1950. Desde una perspectiva de género, se abordarán las diferencias de los espacios entre hombres y mujeres en la institución, así como su repercusión en las prácticas asistenciales. Las principales fuentes estudiadas son 811 historias clínicas conservadas en el Archivo Provincial de Málaga y en el Fondo Pedro Ortiz Ramos del Archivo Universitario de Granada. Mediante una metodología estadística descriptiva, se analizan la edad, el estado civil, el lugar de nacimiento y residencia, la profesión y la procedencia de las mujeres al ingreso. Se comparan los resultados con poblaciones psiquiátricas de otras instituciones investigadas en nuestro ámbito.

  The aim of this paper is analyzing the construction of the sala 20 and the sociodemographic characteristics of women admitted to the Malaga Provincial Asylum between 1909 and 1950. From a gender perspective, the differences in spaces between men and women in the institution will be addressed, as well as their impact on healthcare practices. The main sources studied are 811 clinical records kept in the Malaga Provincial Archive and in the Pedro Ortiz Ramos Fund of the University Archive of Granada. Using a descriptive statistical methodology, the age, marital status, place of birth and residence, profession, and origin of the women upon admission are analyzed. The results are compared with psychiatric populations from other institutions investigated in our country.
