Zalduondo, proceso de formación de una identidad

    Los habitantes (129) de Zalduondo, pequeña población alavesa situada en las estribaciones de la Sierra de Aitzgorri han sido protagonistas a través de la Asociación Cultural por ellos creada del proceso de toma de conciencia de su propia identidad olvidada como consecuencia de muchos años de represión política y de la «cultura de masas» que desde los medios de comunicación social tratan de imponer una homogeneidad axfisiante que acabe con las diferencias. La Asociación Cultural ha sabido recuperar viejas tradiciones como El Carnaval, reconstruir monumentos civiles y religiosos, impulsar nuevas fiestas como la del "Celedón", organizar exposiciones y conferencias, crear un Museo Comarcal y grupos de trabajo entre otras actividades y ha sido el actor principal de este fenómeno de recuperación, lo cual le ha llevado a ser considerada por los zalduondarras como su institución más representativa, aquella que les representa en el exterior, que determim1. la interación entre los propios habitantes del pueblo y con las comunidades de sus alrededores de las que quiere diferenciarse. La historia del pueblo y las lecturas presentadas de la misma por los propios actores sociales han jugado también un papel importante junto con la creación de signos y símbolos en torno a las fiestas y viejas tradiciones que reflejan la unidad y cohesión del grupo, por encima de los conflictos cotidianos existentes en toda comunidad rural de reducidas dimensiones como Zalduondo.

    The inhabitants of Zalduondo, a population of 129 people located in the counterfort of the Sierra of Aitzgorri in the Basque territory of Araba, have been active protagonists in the process of an 1ncreasing awarensess of their own identity. Through the creation of the Asociación Cultural (Cultural Asociation), they have been able to overcome both the impact of many years of public political oppression, and of the unifying impact of the mass media which strives to impose homogeneity and to suppress differences. Sorne of the multiple and significant tasks accomplished by the Asociación Cultural are: to recover old traditions such as the Carnaval; to restare civil and religious buildings and monurnents which were meaningful in the life of the community; to encourage the celebration of new festivities such as the one of the Celedon; to organize exhibits and conferences; to create a Regional Museum and to organize working teams for various activities. Those are examples of the drive of this phenomena of recovery which has led the inhabitants of Zalduondo to consider the Asocíación Cultural significant at different levels. To outsiders,it constitutes the most representative element of the community. lt determinates the interaction among the villagers, and that of the village as a whole with its surrounding communities from whitch the people aim to differentiate ... The village history and the interpretation of that history made by sorne of their actors; the creation of signs and symbols associated with the festivities and old traditions, have been significant in the development of a strong sense of cohesiveness and unity within the village which overrides everyday confticts common to any rural community of such small proportions as Zalduondo is.

    Aitzkorri mendizerraren inguruetan kokaturik dagoen Zalduondo arabar herriskako biztanleek (129) sorturiko Kultur Elkartearen eskutik, beraien identitatea berreskuratze prozesoaren protagonista izan dira, zeina urte askotako zapalketa politikoaren eraginez ahazturi zegoen eta giza komunikabideetatik «masen Kulturaren" bidez diferentziekin bukatu asmoz itotzeko homogeneitasuna imposatu nahi dute. Kultur Elkartea, hainbat ekintzen artean, "lhauteriak" moduko aspaldiko tradiziok suspertzen asmatu du, monumendu erlijioso eta zibilak berreraiki ditu, "Celedon" bezalako jai berriak bultzatu, erakusketa eta hitzaldiak antolatu, "Eskualdeko Museo" bat sortu eta lan taldeak. Berreskuratze fenomeno honen lehen aktore izan denez, erakundenik errepresentatiboena bezala jo dute zalduondarrak, Kanpoan ordezkatzen dituena, herriko biztanleen harremanak eta inguruku komunitatekikoak mugatzen dituena, harengandik diferentziatu nahi duelarik. Zalduondo bezalako nekazal giroko herri batean sortu daitezken egunoroko arazoez gain, herriaren histonak eta giza aktoreek eskeini duten historia horren interpretapenarekin batera, taldearen batasuna eta kohesioa agertzen duten jai eta aspaldiko tradizioren inguruan sortu diren zeinu eta irudiak garrantzi handiko papera 1okatu dutela aitortu behar.
