    Miguel de Cervantes y el universo quijotesco que legó han protagonizado todo tipo de homenajes. La humanidad y la fuerza de sus personajes hacen de El Quijote una obra maestra de la literatura universal. En el caso de la filatelia, la estampa del noble ─no solo de título─ hidalgo manchego y la del manco de Lepanto han sido una constante desde sus albores en todo el mundo. El 1 de mayo de 1905 se emitió la primera serie de sellos conmemorativa de la historia postal de España para festejar el tercer centenario de la publicación de El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha, la obra cumbre de nuestra literatura.

    Miguel de Cervantes and the quixotic universe that he handed down have inspired all types of tributes. The humanity and the strength of its characters make Don Quixote a masterpiece of universal literature. In the case of the philately, the figure of the noble - not only of title – gentleman of la Mancha and the one-armed man of Lepanto have been a constant since its origins in all the over world. On 1st May, 1905, the first series of stamps commemorating Spain’s postal history was issued to celebrate the third centenary of the publication of The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, the greatest masterpiece of our literature.
