  • Resumen
    • As in the rest of Europe, the Spanish Enlightenment was closely tied to courtly life and palaces, but there were also wealthy businessmen who rivaled the nobility in lifestyle and intellectual pursuits. Government administrators had a special role as promoters and authors of reform projects. Publicists knew how to create an exchange of ideas with their readers that circulated Enlightenment themes of the day. These three groups, although distinct in their origin, formation, and level of involvement, all contributed to project publicly the values of the century.
