    La Orden franciscana tuvo gran implantación en la provincia de Albacete. La fun-dación de conventos fue debida al deseo manifestado por las distintas villas y élites localesde tener un convento en ellas. Además de este apoyo municipal, también cuentan con la ayuday protección de los grupos de mayor poder económico y, en algunos casos, de la monarquíay de la nobleza tal como sucede en otros lugares de la geografía peninsular. Se trata de fun-daciones modestas pero que sin este apoyo nunca se hubieran podido llevar a cabo. En estabreve comunicación, con los datos de que dispongo, pongo de relieve este hecho que podráser ampliado con nuevos datos.

    The Franciscan Order had a great importance in the province of Albacete. Thefoundation of convents was due to the express wish of towns and their local elites to haveone in their territory. In addition to the town councils’ support they also had the backing andprotection of wealthy and, in some cases, of the monarchy and the nobility, such as it happenedin other places of the Peninsula. They are modest foundations but without this support theywould have taken place. With the information I have so far, in this short communication I’dlike to emphasize this fact. This information could be expanded in the future.
