  • Resumen
    • The present paper analyses within the disciplinary area of the Survey and the Representation of Architecture, the analysis of the architectural typology with vertical characterization such as towers and bell towers. This research investigation draws its basis from a wider project concerning the analysis of the traditional bell towers of the city of Naples, channeling these studies through a continuation of investigation that focuses only on the contemporary bell towers of the same city. This phase of research will be preceded by a preliminary study of the contemporary bell towers with the ‘signatures’ of well-known architects that will highlight the formal, geometric, and constructive peculiarities of this architectural category, which characterizes more and more the new ecclesiastical constructions standing out among the traditional artifacts of our cities. Therefore the analysis will have a double aspect: on the one hand concerning the field of the survey and monitoring methodologies of these architectures as a process of knowledge of an architectural typology whose overall survey is not easy to carry out due to the height that characterizes them as well as for the particular constructive characteristics of the recent bell towers, and on the other hand a typological analysis of the recent contemporary bell towers that significantly differ from the traditional ones especially for morphological, geometrical and material characteristics.
