This research aims the mise en scène of El Retablo de Maese Pedro (“Master Peter’s Puppet Show”) by Manuel de Falla. By means of drawing, as unquestionable tool for measurable design, it searches for all those details capable of being imagined graphically. This Falla’s work extends the horizon of opportunities in time and space envisioned by Cervantes and urges the stage box, the sets and lighting colors designed to move. Based on a thorough analysis of the melodic, harmonic, rhythmic and texture features of the piece, the research suggests a performing discourse synchronized with the score. In addition, it opts for a certain austerity in the means used trying to maintain the idea of simplicity, spontaneity and facility that lies behind its first perform back in 1923.
