The Cartera breed is an ovine group located in the turolenses areas of the Gúdar-Javalambre andMaestrazgo. Presently it consists of 8200 animals which are entered in the genealogical register. 18zoometrical measurements were obtained from each of 84 adult females and 20 males in six differentflocks located in the Teruel province. This permits a deduction that it is a breed with sublongilineous tolongilineous proportions in both sexes, with proportioned heads, a thorax of large circumference, ahorizontal back line and with medium size limbs in the females, shorter limbs in the males. Thecoefficients of variation show a medium level of homogeneity, higher in the males as the females havesome variables with coefficients above 10%. The degree of harmony is low in both sexes, but is higher inthe females who can be classified as medium- low, and this suggests that here are no obvious criteria ofselection with which to obtain a definite morphostructural model. This is possibly because it is not clearlydescribed in the current standard.
