Resumen de Chacolí de ambos hemisferios

  En el presente artículo se aborda una breve introducción a la domesticación de la vid y un estudio histórico sobre el vino Chacolí desde sus orígenes a la actualidad. Se indican las áreas productoras españolas y chilenas, las variedades de vid empleadas, los sistemas tradicionales de conducción y se recogen algunas formas de elaboración.

  Se muestran las razones por las que tanto la provincia de Burgos y la Comunidad de Cantabria deberían contar con sendas Denominaciones de Origen para este tipo de vino, restringidas al País Vasco.

  Se comenta el problema de la erosión genética que afecta al viñedo actual y se resalta la posibilidad de obtener nuevas variedades empleando la biodiversidad de los ejemplares de las poblaciones relictas de vid silvestre que aún se conservan en las zonas productoras de Chacolí de la Península Ibérica.

  Finalmente, se hace un estudio holístico sobre el Chacolí chileno desde 1808 hasta la actualidad.

  This article starts with a short introduction to the domestication of the grapevine and a historical study on Chacolí wine from its origins to the present time. The Spanish and Chilean production areas, the grapevine cultivars used, the traditional pruning and support systems are indicated, also some procedures of elaboration are shown.

  The reasons why both the province of Burgos and the Community of Cantabria should have denominations of origin for this type of wine, restricted to the Basque Country, are indicated.

  The problem of genetic erosion affecting the current vineyard is discussed and the possibility of to obtain new cultivars using the biodiversity of the specimens of the relic populations of wild grapevines that are still preserved in the Chacolí producing areas of the Iberian Peninsula is highlighted.

  Finally, a holistic study on the Chilean Chacolí from 1808 to the present is included.
