La correspondencia era en el siglo XVIII el medio más rápido y efectivo de comunicación. Cuando seenviaba una misiva, en el sobre se contenía otro tipo de documentos como cuentas, memorándums,instrucciones, pasaportes, etc. Los estudiantes de la asignatura Traducción General (español-inglés)tendrán que extraer algunas estructuras y ejemplos de diez cartas en inglés y diez en español, acercade diferentes temáticas relacionadas con el Asiento de Negros. Las elegidas son las conservadas porThomas Geraldino (1682-1755), que originalmente se llamaba Thomas Fitzgerald, quien se ocupó depreservar los intereses españoles: primero en la Corte Directores de la Compañía de los Mares delSur, con base en Londres; luego, como embajador, también en la misma ciudad. Correspondence was the fastest way of communicating and letters frequently enclosed other texttypes. When sending a missive, accounts, memorandums, instructions, passports, etc. could be foundin the same envelope. Students of the subject General Translation (Spanish-English) will have to ex-tract some structures and examples of ten letters in Spanish and ten in English about different topicsconcerning the Asiento Contract. Those letters were kept by Thomas Geraldino (1682-1755), originallynamed Thomas Fitzgerald, who watched over the interests of Spain, firstly in the London based Courtof Directors of the South Sea Company and secondly as Ambassador in London.
