    El albéitar Francisco González ingresó como profesor en la Real Escuela deVeterinaria de Madrid en 1797, cuatro años después del inicio de los estudios deveterinaria en nuestro país. Procedente del Ejército, donde fue mariscal mayor delReal Colegio de Ocaña y del Regimiento de Caballería de Farnesio, en la Escuela deVeterinaria fue responsable de la caballeriza-hospital y obtuvo la cátedra de Patología.Y aunque sus contactos con la Escuela y la relación con sus directores fue anteriorincluso al comienzo de los estudios de veterinaria, la historiografía apenas ha dedicadoespacio a este albéitar culto, buen clínico e ilustrado, que sufrió exilio en Francia y asu regreso fue apartado de su antiguo puesto en la Escuela y obligado a alejarse de lacapital. Pocos datos se conocen sobre este personaje sin duda injustamente tratadoy algunos de ellos no se apoyan documentalmente, ocasionando su repetición sin lanecesaria comprobación y demostración fehaciente.Tras la correspondiente búsqueda archivística1 presentamos en esta comunicaciónnuevos hallazgos, entre ellos la información definitiva sobre la fecha y lugar de sunacimiento, así como la fecha y lugar de su muerte.

    The albéitar Francisco González became a professor at the Royal Veterinary Schoolin Madrid in 1797 four years after the start of veterinary studies in our country. Comingfrom the Army, where he was a major marshal of the Royal College of Ocaña and theFarnese Cavalry Regiment, at the Veterinary School he was in charge of the stableshospital and obtained the chair of Pathology. And although his contacts with the Schooland his relationship with its directors predated even the start of veterinary studies,historiography has hardly devoted any space to this cultured albéitar, a good clinicianand learned man, who suffered exile in France and on his return was removed from hisformer post at the School and forced to move away from the capital. Little informationis known about this personage, who has undoubtedly been unjustly treated, and someof it is not supported by documents, causing it to be repeated without the necessaryverification and irrefutable proof.After the corresponding archival research, we present in this paper the definitiveinformation on the date and place of his birth as well as the date and place of his death.
