    A lo largo de los 70 años de existencia del Archivo Histórico Provincial de Cantabria, los diferentes edificios que han alojado esta institución han condicionado y definido las condiciones de conservación de nuestro patrimonio documental, su difusión y su accesibilidad. El artículo hace un repaso a estos 70 años, desde sus precarios inicios en una habitación del Instituto Santa Clara de Santander, al moderno edificio construido recientemente para albergar tanto al Archivo Histórico como a la Biblioteca Central de Cantabria, prestando especial importancia al impacto que tiene el edificio en la documentación y en el servicio que se ofrece al ciudadano.

    Throughout the 70 years of existence of the Archivo Histórico Provincial de Cantabria, the different buildings that have housed this institution have conditioned and defined the conditions of conservation of our documentary heritage, its dissemination and therefore its accessibility. This article reviews these 70 years from its precarious beginnings in a room of the Instituto de Enseñanza Santa Clara of Santander, to the modern building recently built to house both the historical archive and the Biblioteca Central de Cantabria, paying special importance to the impact the building had in the documentation and in the service offered to the citizen.
