    En este artículo pretendemos analizar las causas del conflicto socioambiental desarrollado en Busturialdea (Bizkaia) en los años 70 y 80 provocado por un plan de desarrollo urbano y turístico que terminó con la declaración de Urdaibai como Reserva de la Biosfera.

    El movimiento social contrario al plan, surgido del movimiento vecinal vinculado al antifranquismo y con una visión proteccionista gracias a la conexión con el entorno, creó unas redes sociales que permitieron reformular el conflicto con una visión ecologista

    In this paper I carry out the analysis of the socio-environmental conflict occurred in Busturialdea (Bizkaia) in the 70’s and 80’s and its causes. The conflict, that ended with the declaration of Urdaibai as a Biosphere Reserve, was provoked by an urban and touristic development plan. The social movement against the plan -formed from the citizens’ movement connected to the antifrancoism with a naturalist vision thanks to the connexion with the environmentcreated the social networks that enabled giving to the conflict an environmentalistic point of view.
