Reflexiones sociales acerca del cuidado y la discapacidad. IX Jornadas de la Red Española de Políticas Sociales (REPS, 2023)

    En este artículo se reseñan los resultados clave del IX Congreso de la Red Española de Políticas Sociales (REPS) celebrado a finales de octubre de 2023 en la Universitat de les Illes Balears (Palma de Mallorca), bajo el título “Crisis globales e impactos locales: Tendencias y respuestas públicas y comunitarias para la transición ecosocial”. Las jornadas tuvieron como objetivo central la reflexión sobre los retos que supone la política social, tanto a mediano como a largo plazo, además del debate alrededor de iniciativas y experiencias que, desde diferentes campos disciplinares, contribuyen a afrontar dichos retos con perspectiva de equidad y justicia eco-social.

    El desarrollo del congreso estuvo bajo el liderazgo del Observatorio Social de las Islas Baleares (OSIB) y el Grupo de Investigación Desigualdades, Género y Políticas Públicas (DGiPP) de la universidad anfitriona, quienes junto con los comités de la REPS, lograron desplegar un evento en el que se dieron cita actores de diferentes campos disciplinares de las ciencias sociales y humanas (e incluso de otras ciencias), distintos roles (investigadores/as, profesionales, activistas de movimientos sociales, representantes del tercer sector, sociedad civil…) y diferentes procedencias geográficas, desde el territorio español como también de nivel internacional, con participantes y ponentes de diversos países europeos y del continente americano.

    En el texto, al estilo de una crónica, se profundiza alrededor de dos de los espacios que se desarrollaron en las jornadas REPS y que representan un gran valor para los propósitos de la revista:

    Por un lado, la mesa redonda “Estado del Bienestar, crisis y reconfiguración de los cuidados” y por otro lado el Panel 03. “Discapacidad, capacitismo y políticas sociales”.

    This article summarizes the key results of the IX Congress of the Spanish Network of Social Policies (REPS) held in late October 2023 at the University of the Balearic Islands (Palma de Mallorca), under the title “Global crises and local impacts: Trends and public and community responses for the ecosocial transition”. The main objective of the conference was to reflect on the challenges posed by social policy, both in the medium and long term, in addition to the debate around initiatives and experiences that, from different disciplinary fields, contribute to meet these challenges with a perspective of equity and eco-social justice.

    The development of the congress was under the leadership of the Social Observatory of the Balearic Islands (OSIB) and the Inequalities, Gender and Public Policy Research Group (DGiPP) of the host university, who together with the REPS committees, managed to deploy an event that brought together actors from different disciplinary fields of the social and human sciences (and even from other sciences), different roles (researchers, professionals, social movement activists, representatives of the third sector, civil society...) and different geographical origins, as well as different geographical origins (researchers, professionals, social movement activists, representatives of the third sector, civil society...). ) and different geographical origins, from the Spanish territory as well as international level, with participants and speakers from various European countries and the American continent.

    The present article is focused on two of the spaces that took place in the conference and that represent a great value for the purposes of the magazine: On the one hand, the round table “Welfare State, crisis and reconfiguration of care” and on the other hand, Panel 03. “Disability, empowerment and social policies”.
