Desde una biblioteca hospitalaria a una unidad de soporte al conocimiento

    Introducción: La biblioteca de ciencias de la salud del Área Sanitaria de Ferrol se ha integrado en 2021 en la Unidad de Soporte al Conocimiento junto con Docencia, Formación e Investigación, con una nueva dependencia funcional y orgánica. Objetivos: •Dar apoyo y asesoramiento desde sus áreas funcionales con el objetivo de satisfacer las necesidades de conocimientos clínico-tecnológicos de los profesionales. •Prestar ayuda en la investigación e innovación en salud desarrollada localmente en el área sanitaria. •Facilitar la colaboración entre profesionales o en alianza con universidades, empresas, fundaciones y otras instituciones que compartan sus mismos fines. Material y método: En octubre del año 2021, la dirección de procesos de soporte consultó con las distintas unidades de biblioteca, formación continuada, docencia e investigación la posibilidad de integrar estas unidades en un solo servicio, que ofreciese un apoyo integral al personal del área sanitaria y a los investigadores. Se unió la recién creada unidad de innovación en el hospital. Se reorganizó el espacio físico para reubicar todas las unidades en un mismo entorno y se creó la Unidad de Soporte al Conocimiento para integrar y facilitar el acceso en un único ámbito a todo lo relacionado con la gestión de estos servicios. Se renovaron todos los procedimientos de apoyo a la investigación, adaptándolos a la nueva estructura. Resultados: Se revisan las pérdidas y ganancias que ha supuesto este cambio para la biblioteca, su personal y los usuarios, desde los puntos de vista espacial, organizacional y laboral. Conclusiones: Se concluye que, a pesar de las pérdidas en el espacio físico o la externalización del archivo, los beneficios se imponen y se fortalece el soporte al conocimiento para los usuarios, impulsando y fortaleciendo las áreas de investigación e innovación en atención hospitalaria y en primaria. La biblioteca se integra de forma oficial y reglada en el circuito de investigación e innovación y en la docencia de residentes y alumnos y también gana un espacio para formación continuada de los usuarios.

    Background: The Health Sciences Library of the “Área Sanitaria de Ferrol” has been integrated in 2022 in the Knowledge Support Unit together with Teaching, Training and Research, with a new functional and organic dependence. Objectives: •To provide support and advice from its functional areas with the aim of satisfying the clinical-technological knowledge needs of professionals. •To provide assistance in health research and innovation developed locally in the health area. •To facilitate collaboration between professionals or in alliance with universities, companies, foundations and other institutions that share the same aims. Methods: In October of the year 2021, the Support Processes Direction consulted with the different units of : library, continuing education, teaching, and research unit, about the possibility of integrating these units into a single service that would provide comprehensive support to the healthcare staff and researchers. The newly created innovation unit in the hospital was included. The physical space was reorganized to relocate all the units in the same environment, and the Knowledge Support Unit was created to integrate and facilitate access in a unified scope to everything related to the management of these services. All research support procedures were updated, adapting them to the new structure. Results: The gains and losses of these changes for the library, its staff and users are reviewed from spatial, organisational and occupational viewpoints. Conclusions: It is concluded that despite the losses in physical space or the externalisation of the archive, the benefits are imposed and the knowledge support for users is strengthened, boosting and strengthening the areas of research and innovation in hospital and primary care. The library is officially and formally integrated in the research and innovation circuit and in the teaching of residents and students, and also gains a space for the continuing education of users.
