Gentrificación en Russafa (Valencia): de barrio de inmigrantes a cosmopolitismo cool

    Este artículo aborda las transformaciones urbanas, la sociabilidad vecinal y las relaciones interétnicas del barrio de Russafa (Valencia), que, en veinte años, ha pasado de barrio de inmigrantes a conocer un proceso de gentrificación y turistificación. Estos procesos han reducido su vecindario popular, autóctono e inmigrante del sur global, y aumentado la heterogeneidad de sus residentes por clase y origen. A la parte del vecindario inmigrante del sur global que se mantiene, muy integrada en las dinámicas vecinales, se han sumado los gentrificadores del norte global con diferentes perfiles, actitudes y grado de inserción en el barrio. Se analizan estos cambios, su impacto en la trama de sociabilidad del barrio y la relación entre inmigración y proceso sociourbano.

    This article discusses the urban transformations, the neighbourly relationships and the interethnic relations of the neighbourhood of Russafa (Valencia) which, in twenty years, has changed from an immigrant neighbourhood to a process of gentrification and touristification. These processes have reduced its popular neighbour, autochthonous and global South background, and increased the heterogeneity of residents by class, social status and origin. To the part of the global South origin residents that remains, highly integrated in the vicinity dynamics, have been added the gentrifiers of the global North with different profiles, attitudes and degree of insertion in the neighbourhood. These changes are analysed, their impact on the vicinity sociability and the relationship between immigration and the socio-urban process.
