    Este estudio, basado en la información obtenida mediante entrevistas a 76 mujeres que realizan o han realizado sexo de pago, ha abordado aspectos relacionados con las causas de su involucración, su identidad, la problemática del consumo de sustancias y las consecuencias para su salud física y mental, así como la victimización que han experimentado con ocasión del ejercicio de la actividad. Tras un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo de la información recolectada, se ha constatado la diversidad de vivencias experimentadas por las mujeres entrevistadas y el alcance y la profundidad de las consecuencias adversas que esta práctica tiene para la mayoría de ellas, destacando la problemática de las mujeres transexuales, en buena parte diversa de la del resto de mujeres tanto en relación con las circunstancias de iniciación como en las consecuencias.

     This study, based on information obtained through interviews with 76 women who currently provide or have provided paid sexual services, has addressed aspects related to the causes of their involvement, their identity, issues of substance abuse, and the consequences for their physical and mental health, as well as the victimization they have experienced in the course of their activity. Following a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the collected information from the interviewed women, the study has confirmed the diversity of their experiences and the scope and depth of the adverse consequences this practice has for most of them, highlighting the unique challenges faced by transgender women, which differ significantly from those of other women both in terms of the circumstances of their initiation and the consequences.
