    Los efectos del cambio climático están transformando el sectorenergético, considerándose actualmente como uno de los más contaminantes. Por ello, como se estipula en el Pacto Verde Europeo, es necesario fomentar el desarrollo y la implementación de energías renovables. De este modo, se facilitará la transición energética, garantizando el uso de energías limpias y respetuosas con el medio ambiente para un futuro climáticamente neutro. El presente capítulo introduce el papel de la energía eólica marina frente al inevitable cambio climático, analizando sus fundamentos e implicacionesen el proceso de transición energética mediante el estudio de susoportunidades y retos teniendo en cuenta los posibles impactos socioeconómicos y medioambientales. Todo ello con el objetivo principal de estudiar en detalle la relación de este tipo de instalaciones con la ciudad y el territorio ante la evidente necesidad de establecer una adecuada ordenación y regulación frente a su creciente desarrollo.

    The effects of climate change are transforming the energy sector, which is currently considered one of the most polluting sectors. Therefore, as stipulated in the European Green Pact, it is necessary to promote the development and implementation of renewable energies. This will facilitate the energy transition, ensuring the use of clean and environmentally friendly energies for a climate‐neutral future. This chapter introduces the role of offshore wind energy in the face of inevitable climate change, analyzing its fundamentals and implications in the energy transition process by studying its opportunities and challenges, taking into account the possible socioeconomic and environmental impacts. All this with the main objective of studying in detail the relationship of this type of installations with the city and the territory in view of the evident need to establish an adequate planning and regulation in the face of its growing development.
