    La incidencia que Extremadura tuvo en el proceso de descubrimiento y colonización de América con la incorporación al nuevo mundo de un nutrido grupo de extremeños, dio lugar a un conjunto de aportaciones que van desde el propio vino, el Clarete de Guadalcanal, sin duda el primer vino que llega al continente americano , si no a demás la propia vid que cada extremeño portaba consigo desde su pueblo natal . La técnica del injerto que Cortés desarrollaría para poder cultivar la vitis vinífera en el continente americano o el alambique que Hernando Enríquez, médico de Villanueva de Barcarrota portara consigo y destilara en el Cuzco el primer pisco de la historia.
