    En este trabajo se realiza un recorrido historiográfico sobre la emergencia de nuevas temáticas y los cambios de enfoque que han tenido lugar en el seno de la investigación especializada durante las últimas décadas en relación a la cuestión de la identidad étnica dentro del espacio ibérico. De esta manera, en el texto se sintetizan las actuales visiones e interpretaciones acerca del fenómeno étnico entre las comunidades del sur y este pensinular, prestando una atención preferente al papel jugado por Roma y su renovada centralidad a la hora de entender dicho fenómeno en el contexto “global” del Mediterráneo romano-helenístico.

    This paper provides a historiographical overview about the emergence of new themes and the changes of perspective that have taken place among the specialized researchers over the last decades with regard to the question of ethnic identity within the Iberian space. In this way, the text summarizes current views and interpretations of the ethnic phenomenon among the Iberian communities of the Southern and Eastern Iberian Peninsula, with particular attention to the role played by Rome and its renewed centrality in understanding this phenomenon within the “global” context of the Roman-Hellenistic Mediterranean.
