Today, I'm visiting my friend Nancy Gideon. Yesterday, on Jessica E. Subject's blog, I talked about mentors. I've always considered Nancy one of my mentors. She kicked my butt when I was ready to give up on writing. Glad she did. Today, she reviews Rescuing Mara's Father. Wow. What a review!

GUEST: Tara Tyler Talks Bathroom Blues @TaraTylerTalks
DISPOSAL has arrived!!
DISPOSAL by Tara TylerPop Travel, Book Three
Cooper and Geri are finally in a good place, but their bliss is short-lived when Cooper's rebellious nephew Jimmy moves in with them for a summer internship. He hits the town hard and thinks he's found the girl of his dreams in an fiery, exotic beauty. Against all words of warning, he pursues her and ends up getting kidnapped by her powerful Drug Lord father. Geri tracks him down, but gets herself kidnapped as well.
Now it's up to Cooper to use all his resources to save them, including the hot homicide detective Geri secretly despises, and the latest sketchy gadgets his genius friend Hasan offers him to field-test. Sure, why not? Cooper will do anything to get his family back.
Get an outhouse! JK. Here are some tips for keeping your bathroom guest-ready!
- Keep Supplies in each Bathroom - this is my number one tip. Having cleaning supplies handy, you will be able to clean each bathroom when you see it needs it. No excuses!
- Air Fresheners! - There are so many options for air fresheners these days. My personal favorite is a plug-in variety. There are also auto-spraying devices, traditional sprays, and scented candles. A pleasant scent enhances the whole experience.
- Once a week - at least for toilets is the goal. Since this chore is easy to put off, you know it's time when you see a ring start to form - ew!
- Towels - also weekly. Gross towels defeat the purpose of a shower - my boys don't seem to understand or care... ew again.
- Gloves - Save your hands and use vinyl or latex gloves! And don't wear something you care about, bleach is in most of the bathroom cleaning products and is bound to splatter!
- Products - I use good old Comet, also Clorox wipes - these are great for in between cleaning quick fixes too. But this is a personal preference, use what works for you!
Thanks so much, Diane for having me over to celebrate my latest release. I enjoy chatting about domestic duty tips with friends! (Especially to avoid doing them!)

And the winner is . . .
Thank you to everyone who participated in the MISSION TO NEW EARTH blog tour during the month of September. So many gracious friends opened their homes (blogsites) and allowed me to natter on about my newest release.
The best part was hearing from you readers. Your answers to the question "Would you go on a one-way trip to a new planet?" were entertaining and thoughtful. Of course, there was no right answer.
Now for the moment you've been waiting for. Who won the $10 Amazon Gift Card?

Saturday Sampler: Trouble By Any Other Name by Lori MacLaughlin
TITLE: Trouble By Any Other Name
Sequel to Lady, Thy Name Is Trouble
AUTHOR: Lori L. MacLaughlin
RELEASE DATE: May 16, 2016
GENRE: Fantasy
******
About the Book:
Tara Triannon is no stranger to trouble. She's yet to find an enemy her skill with a sword couldn't dispatch. But how can she fight one that attacks through her dreams?
With her nightmares worsening, Tara seeks answers but finds only more questions. Then her sister, Laraina, reveals a stunning secret that forces Tara to go to the one place Tara's sworn never to return to. Her troubles multiply when Jovan Trevillion, the secretive soldier of fortune who stole her heart, is mentally tortured by an ancient Being intent on bending him to its will. And worst of all, the Butcher — the terrifying wolf-like assassin she thought she'd killed — survived their duel and is hunting her again.
Hounded by enemies, Tara sets out on a harrowing quest to discover the true nature of who she is, to come to grips with the new volatility of her magic, and to defeat the evil locked in a centuries-old trap that will stop at nothing to control her magic and escape through her nightmares.
Excerpt:
A gust of wind shook the stable, scattering rain across the straw-covered floor. Tara started, shivering in spite of the warmth within. She'd gotten lost in the fire again, drawn toward sleep by the mesmerizing flames. Sensing her weariness, the creature from her dream began to tug at her mind, trying to pull her into the dungeon. Warning chills crept over her skin. She shook her head and sat up straighter.
"You need rest," Jovan said softly. He pulled blankets out of the saddlebags and wrapped one around her shoulders.
"Thanks." Tara drew the blanket closer around her. "I dread it more each time."
"So do I." His hands clenched. "It's infuriating. I can see what's happening in your dream, but I can't help you. I can't do anything. I'm useless to you."
She covered his fists with her hands and raised them to her heart. "No, you're not. It's your strength that sustains me and keeps me going. It's your voice that brings me back." She leaned forward and brushed her lips across his. "I need you." She kissed him again, felt his arms slide around her, drawing her to him. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she settled in his lap, her body pressed close to his. He deepened the kiss, pulling her closer.
"I can keep the dream away for a while," he said.
"Mmmmm, please do," she murmured.
She pulled his shirt off over his head and let her fingers play over the hard muscles of his back. His lips traced a path down her neck.
She arched against him and moaned low in her throat. "That feels so good. We need to do this more often."
He laughed and continued his trail of kisses.
She cupped his face and lifted his eyes to hers, held his gaze for a moment. "Thank you for being here — for staying with me."
He caressed her cheek. "Until my last breath, I will be with you."
Their lips met again in a tender kiss. He leaned back, drawing her with him. His mind touched hers, and she opened to him, let him flow into her like a river of molten fire. Locked in each other's arms, they made love until finally, their energy spent, they fell into an exhausted sleep.

Author Bio:
Lori L. MacLaughlin traces her love of fantasy adventure to Tolkien and Terry Brooks, finding The Lord of the Rings and The Sword of Shannara particularly inspirational. She's been writing stories in her head since she was old enough to run wild through the forests on the farm on which she grew up.
She has been many things over the years – tree climber, dairy farmer, clothing salesperson, kids' shoe fitter, retail manager, medical transcriptionist, journalist, private pilot, traveler, wife and mother, Red Sox and New York Giants fan, muscle car enthusiast and NASCAR fan, and a lover of all things Scottish and Irish.
When she's not writing (or working), she can be found curled up somewhere dreaming up more story ideas, taking long walks in the countryside, or spending time with her kids. She lives with her family in northern Vermont.

#IWSG: About Blog Tours
It's that time again. The first Wednesday of September. The Insecure Writers Support Group meets once a month online where writers share and encourage each other. IWSG is the brainchild of Ninja Captain Alex
J. Cavanaugh Thanks, Alex, for starting this group and keeping it going. And thanks
to this month's awesome hosts Julie Flanders, Murees Dupé, Dolorah at Book Lover, Christine Rains, and Heather Gardner!
Last month, I did blog tours for two books, my newest sci-fi
romance THE PROTECTOR and my PI mystery THE CASE OF THE BY GONE BROTHER. The
week-long tours were back to back with the Sunday in between off. I hadn’t
planned it that way. The first I paid for and the second was a freebie from the
same company Novel Book Tours.
During the first week, IWSG participant Crystal Collier wanted to hear my
impression after the tours were over.
In the past, I’ve set up my own tours by begging friends to
have me on their blogs or responding when someone on various groups and
loops offered to host. It sounded easier to let someone else set up the tours. Plus, as
gracious as my fellow authors are, I felt I was hitting the same audiences. Also,
the tour director offered the book for review to those who signed up to host. (I’m a
host for that company, so I knew the drill.)
I learned a few things. Never do back-to-back tours. It's too much. I felt like I was constantly hitting up people I knew to come and visit. I'm sure they were as tired of visiting as I was of begging.
In all the tours I set up in the past (well over 100 spots), only one host didn’t post (didn’t even respond when I emailed). With the paid tours, out of 30 spots, 3 were no-shows. They weren’t just spotlights, either. They were supposed to be guest posts or interviews. Extra work on my part for nothing. Five hosts requested copies of the book for review. Since I’m self-published, I could send coupon codes for Smashwords and they could choose the format. I got 2 reviews. Better than nothing, especially since they were good reviews.

In all, I wrote 11 original posts. I
visited each site multiple times each day and through each week to respond to
comments. All of which was very time consuming. Since I offered a giveaway each week ($15 gift card), I had a lot of
comments from strangers. I got 32 new subscribers for my newsletter, gained 25
“likes” on my FB page, and more Twitter followers. Great for name recognition.
But if the main reason for doing a
blog tour is to sell books, I didn't do so good. For the past 3 weeks (includes the tours), I’ve
sold 8 of the two books. Not really impressive, is it?
Was hiring a tour service worth it? In terms of sales, no.
In terms of new followers? Yes, but who knows if they will buy books. If my
sales skyrocket in the next week or so, then the tour was a success. Somehow I
doubt that will happen.
I’d love to hear your experiences with blog tours.
