Good things

Like many of you, Bruce and I are battling a virus. I love how Bugsy finds a patch of sun....I watched a bubbble freeze in the garage. Good things. A sleepless night allowed me to hear this old praise song....unexpected joy.
"We are a moment, You are forever
Lord of the Ages, God before time
We are a vapor, You are eternal
Love everlasting, reigning on high"

An experiment

Last summer I read that bubbles, the kind you blow with soap and a wand, freeze in the winter. I was rather intrigued. So last week, on the coldest day of the year, I went outside just as the sun rose, to give it a try. The air was perfectly still. And I started blowing bubbles. They froze almost instantly, in beautiful patterns like frost on the window. The most amazing thing? They don't pop, they shatter like light bulbs. It all was a bit challenging...holding the camera with gloves on, blowing bubbles and then trying to press the shutter button. And I'm sure I looked ridiculous, but I think it was so worth it...

This one froze on the wand...

This one landed on the ice and finally broke.

But these took my breath away...they started to freeze as they floated by in beautiful star patterns, eventually becoming completely crystallized. Within seconds they lay shattered on the snow. I never thought I would say this, but I can't wait for it to get cold again.

I wonder what the folks at Communal Global are doing around the world today?

My world...

I was doing the dishes the other day and saw the reflection of our kitchen in one of the soap bubbles.
So, I blew a bubble (yes, using the tongs) and put it out on the deck. My world was getting bigger. Finally, I walked back to the woods with camera and tongs and a cup of soap. Soon, I had a reflection of the winter wonderland around me.

Now, to find a way to make vacuuming more fun.
