Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.

I saw these oak tree seedlings growing between the rows of soybeans this past weekend when Bugsy and I took a walk near our fields. I've never noticed that before. I called a friend who I knew would be interested in saving a few before the soybeans were harvested and the soil plowed for planting next year. The roots were nearly a foot deep already.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.
