A little over 77 million people in the US chose fear.
Some were afraid of immigrants, some afraid of higher education, some afraid of experts who had knowledge of issues they didn’t, some afraid of people of color advancing while some were afraid of wornen, because why can’t they just stay in their place?
Some were afraid of the future, some afraid of the unknown, some afraid of people not like themselves. Some were afraid that if billionaires were inconvenienced that they would suffer because they’d been TOLD this over and over again. By billionaires themselves.
Some were afraid white people would disappear, because someone said that on a podcast, or at least be in the minority and we know how we treat minorities.
Some were afraid of unions, because they were told that they were out of control. Some were afraid of change. Some just want to see the world blow up because they don’t believe things can be better anymore.
And some were absolutely terrified, quaking, puking in fear, that transgender women, the most targeted-for-violence group in the world, might do ANYTHING. Teach, Live. Survive, Breathe,
Be happy.
Transgender men, they just don’t believe are real.
And this fear became a human being who is being inaugurated today as the president of the United States.
And it’s up to us to take those fears and turn them into reality. Despite what is coming next.
We have no choice but to fight.
For people of color to advance
For women to “not know their place”
For unions to expand their control
For experts to learn even more.
For Transgender women to be happy
And Transgender men to be real.
And for billionaires to start to suffer.
We don’t know what comes next
We have to transcend the fear and realize that it is the enemy, not the people around us who are going to be hurt over the next term.
But we know we have to fight. We have to record everything that happens over the next four years, to mark the truth.
Because they won’t.
Every one of us is a camera, unbreakable, meant to record the future.
And we are powered on now.
