The Lost Art of Reading and Writing

Long-form reading and writing once shaped how ideas formed, knowledge spread, and culture evolved. Today, speed dominates communication. This post reflects on what was lost in that transition and why thoughtful, deliberate communication remains essential.

A recent study by AI detector Originality.ai found that 77% of the 844 books in Amazon's 'Success' self-help subgenre published between August 31 and November 28, 2025, were likely written by AI. The study revealed that 90% of these books contained AI-written elements in their descriptions, bios, or sample texts. The author of the study, Michael Fraiman, argues that this practice is damaging to Amazon's brand and unfair to consumers who may not realize they are purchasing AI-generated content.
