ATTENTION! K-12 Show & Tell with Melanie Martinez

Digital Noise Mag attended New York native Melanie Martinez on her K-12 tour at the Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pa. on October 30, 2019. Coming off her release of her 2015 debut album Cry Baby which tells the story of a young baby-like human who faces the harsh realities of life, discovering who she is and what makes her human. Leading into Melanie’s long awaited second studio album K-12 which continues the story of a young girl named Cry Baby, who grew a little older in 2019, thus beginning to learn more adult life lessons. The hint of innocence mixed with a twisted disturbing truth, Melanie took the stage performing her newest record play by play of the short film she released prior to the album on YouTube. Giving us glamour of outfit changes, set changes, and even throwing back some of Cry Babies oldest tracks; Melanie for sure put on a show for us all. Martinez stated that “It’s been a bit since I’ve been on tour and I’m incredibly excited to bring the movie to life on stage. I’m putting all of my energy into making it not only visually stunning and pleasing to the senses but also a fun learning experience and a safe place to express yourself and be accepted for exactly who you are”. Performing the full album as well as fan favorite throwbacks such as “Sippy Cup”, “Alphabet Boy”, and “Mad Hatter” to end the night out on a wonderful high note.
