This is a porcelain palette 🎨 for mixing watercolors. I have seen many examples of people making these but not using the technique I thought of here. In the examples I have encountered, the depressions that end up holding the watercolors are carefully carved. Nothing wrong with carving! It can be a very relaxing and meditative activity. Da jeg la hodet på puten, var det så godt – jeg kjente med én gang at jeg kunne sovnet på et sekund 🛌 Men denne puten bruker jeg her til å beskytte krukker med lokk når jeg åpner dem. Noen av dem har festet seg ganske godt under glasurbrenningen. Selv om all glasur var nøye fjernet fra kontaktflatene, kan leiren likevel feste seg til annen leire – fordi den blant annet inneholder feltspat, som, avhengig av typen, kan begynne å smelte allerede ved 1100–1150 °C. Her skiller jeg delene forsiktig. Jeg bruker et tynt, fleksibelt metallnyre og en hammer. Jeg setter metallnyren inn i sprekken mellom krukken og lokket, og slår forsiktig med hammeren. This is made with layered orange, yellow, and white slip in the same syringe, which gives a unique marbled pattern when applied to the side of a mug. The handle is pressed directly into the slip, which fuses the two pieces of clay firmly together into a single piece. Shayne Berlin on Instagram: "This is #9 of my Teaching Projects series where I share a countdown of 30 ceramic projects to celebrate my 30 years of teaching pottery classes! This is a woven basket made with one inch wide strips of clay and woven flat on a table before slumping it into a bowl. The result is a rounded but square looking basket. I don’t use slip to connect the strips of clay however, I do moisten each strip with a damp sponge as I’m weaving it. Using The Clay Mat™ makes it super easy and quick to cut even strips without the use of a ruler thanks to its printed grid. It also helps align the strips for even spacing when you weave it on a clear plastic.
