MONASTIR This is a small town along Tunisia’s coastline, about 40 minutes south of Sousse. It’s an easy Sousse day trip. The louage is only 6 TND ($2) between Sousse and Monastir. When I went, it was the first day of Ramadan, so many things were closed. But the town was still very cute, and I’m glad we got to see it. Tunisia’s first president after independence from France, Habib Bourguiba, is from here. The film Life of Brian was filmed in the Ribat in Monastir. Here are a few highlights...
