Trewithen Cornwall – House, Gardens and Estate
Trewithen, Truro, Cornwall - Meaning 'house of the trees', this is a neat Palladian house, lived in by the same family for over 250 years. When Phillip Hawkins first bought Trewithen in 1715 he established the estate as home to a dynasty that has, through the centuries, made a very significant contribution to Cornwall. Phillip Hawkins was a wealthy attorney & landowner who commissioned London architect Thomas Edwards to rebuild Trewithen & lay out the park.
