Jayme | MS English Teacher on Instagram: "This activity is my go-to on the very first day of school. It creates excitement for the coming year AND I learn so many things about my students right off the bat.

After the time is up, we debrief. I ask them questions about what was frustrating about the activity and how they handled that frustration. I put A LOT of emphasis on not quitting—even when it gets hard, and how this applies to all areas of life.

For the groups who didn’t complete the challenge, we talk about how if I had given them more time, they would have mastered it eventually—as long as they didn’t quit. Sometimes it just takes us a little longer than others.

There are SO many possibilities for discussion from this activity, which is why I love it so much!
