We are entering into my favorite time of year. The time of year when the leaves look as though they’ve caught fire, when the forest smells like earth and dampness, when there’s a chill in the air. It’s the time when you finally break out those comfy sweaters and . . .

The winter solstice is the longest (and sometimes the darkest) night of the year. However, it also represents a turning point… the great stillness before the sun’s strength builds, when days will grow longer, and the light will once again illuminate the land. With that darkness brings out a time of reflection, contemplation and connection....

Since deciding that we would get married on the Summer Solstice (by coincidence actually!), I have been gathering potential ‘Summer Solstice-themed’ readings, including poems and quotes that might be incorporated into a Summer Solstice wedding ceremony.
