DIY WRAPPING PAPER Potato printing is a great way to use up old potatoes and we put some of ours to good use at the weekend to make some festive wrapping paper! Past their best, slightly soft potatoes are perfect as they are easier to cut into. Using cookie cutters to make shapes is the best and simplest way to do potato printing! I also used a skewer and a knife to add some decoration to the Christmas trees. You can use ready mix/tempera or acrylic paint for potato printing. In this instance the acrylic worked quite well to pick up the details in the Christmas trees but it does need repeated applications to the potato, after every two prints ideally, whereas you’d get more prints out of the tempera paint.
