We couldn’t get matching oak doors in these sizes, without it being £££, so here’s how I made them look like the rest of the doors upstairs on a budget. I started by replicating the panelling with 6mm MDF, the pieces around the edge are slightly wider than the inner panels, secured with no nails grab adhesive (I used a piece of mdf as a spacer) I then filled, sanded and primed. Painted in @frenchicpaint cremè de la cremè and then rolled the wood grain tool down the wet paint to create the wood effect. Once the paint had dried I then brushed on @frenchicpaint browning wax and that’s it! 🙌🏻 (Use an artists brush to get into those small gaps) Wood grain paint tool linked my home links highlight It’s worth noting while this works well for cupboard doors adding panelling to both sides of an internal door may not work, as the door may not fit back in the frame. #diydoor #door #doordesign #wooddoor #wooddoors #homediy #homediyproject #homeinterior #homedecor #homerenovation | Kerry Kellett | Facebook

This glue-and-sand technique has completely changed the game for me! 🙌 Below is the basic process, but also let me know below if you would like a slowed down tutorial on how I assemble these cabinet doors. Here’s how it works: 1️⃣ Use plenty of glue to ensure a strong bond between the wood pieces. 2️⃣ Let it ooze out of the seam and wipe it right away. 3️⃣ Here’s the key ... Sand the seam immediately after gluing while the glue is still wet!! The sawdust from the wood will mix with the glue and make the perfect natural wood filler! And this process helps fill in any gaps and creates a seamless, smooth finish. I’ve been using this method for my cabinetry and built-ins, and the results are amazing!! Have you tried this technique before? Let me know your go-to tricks for perfect seams in the comments! ⬇️ #DIYtips #woodworkinghacks #cabinetbuiltins #seamlessfinish | Claire | Creatively.Clarified | DIY | Facebook
22K views · 4.3K reactions | 1️⃣ Is the wood treated? Nope! We only use untreated cedar fence pickets. This keeps the natural beauty of the wood intact and prevents any chemicals from interfering with the look or finish. 2️⃣ How long should you let it acclimate? Zero time. We install right away. Wood naturally expands and contracts, but we’re not looking for “perfect.” We love the subtle irregularities—they add character and warmth to the space. 3️⃣ Do we sand them? Never. The raw texture is part of what makes cedar planks unique. Also, sanding takes away the natural rustic charm that makes these projects stand out. Love DIY budget-friendly cedar plank projects?
